The bearded or skeggøx (from the Old Norse skegg for beard and øx for axe) was used as a tool and a weapon in early medieval Scandinavia as early as the 6th century AD. Its characteristic “beard” or hook provided a longer cutting edge without significantly increasing the overall weight of the axe. This high-quality, forged Viking bearded axe has a carbon steel blade mounted on a sturdy ash wood shaft. The edge is lightly ground but not fully sharpened. The axe head has been intentionally left unpolished, allowing the black patina to give the Viking axe a rustic, authentic appearance.

This Viking bearded axe is designed as a collector's item or decorative display piece, and, besides its quality as a collectible, is perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume. Complete your transformation into a proud Viking warrior!
