This beautiful decoration is a faithful replica of an American Colt Navy 1851 percussion revolver, also known as belt model, as it could be carried in a belt holster owing to its handy size. This .36 calibre (9 mm) muzzleloader came onto the market in 1850 and enjoyed great popularity with both troops and civilians at the time of the Westward Expansion. Among the famous users of this weapon were Buffalo Bill, Doc Holliday, US President Ulysses S. Grant and most Texas Rangers before the Civil War.
Although revolvers with fixed metallic cartridges became increasingly widespread after the Civil War, this muzzleloader remained in use long after the end of the conflict. Between 1850 and 1872, around 215,000 pieces were produced. It was eventually replaced in 1873 by the Colt Single Action Army Revolver (M1873, also known as SAA, Peacemaker, or simply Colt .45), a cartridge revolver which would attain iconic status and become a true symbol of the Wild West.
Our replica of this legendary Western weapon reflects the dimensions of the original gun. Just like the historical model, it is equipped with an octagonal 7.5 in. barrel, a single-action trigger, a ramrod and a rotating 6-shot cylinder that rotates further by cocking the hammer. This decorative version combines wooden handle scales with metal parts in old grey.
Our firearm replicas are solely intended for re-enactment and decorative purposes. Although the mechanism is fully articulated, this reproduction is not capable of firing.
This Western revolver is not only an absolute gem for weapon collectors, history buffs or fans of Western cinema and TV series, but also an indispensable accessory or prop for cowboys, lawmen, outlaws, and American Frontier re-enactors.
Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.
